Three drivers in HRM charged with stunting

RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment charges three drivers in HRM with stunting within a week.

The first incident happened the evening of April 18 when officers caught a Ford Mustang travelling 113 km in a 60 zone in Windsor Junction. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment during the traffic stop, and a roadside breath sample resulted in a warning.

The 60-year-old man from Lower Sackville was ticketed for stunting, received a seven-day license suspension and his vehicle was seized. He also received another seven-day suspension due to his breath sample.

That same evening, another officer on Highway 107 near Lake Echo caught a Kia Forte going 150 km in a 100 km zone. Mounties said during the traffic stop, the driver showed signs of impairment and a roadside breath sample resulted in a warning.

The 45-year-old driver from Dartmouth was ticketed for stunting, received a seven-day license suspension, and his vehicle was seized. He also received another seven-day suspension due to his breath sample.

Then last Friday night, an officer on Highway 107 near Lake Echo caught a Mazda CX-30 travelling 162 km in a 100 zone.

Police said the 32-year-old man from Lake Echo was charged with stunting, received an immediate seven-day license suspension, and his vehicle was seized.

In all three incidents, the ticket for stunting came with a fine of $2,422.50.
