SPRINGHILL — Correctional Service Canada says an inmate of the Springhill Institution in Nova Scotia has died in custody.

The federal service said 65-year-old Dominique Tremblay died on Friday at the medium-security prison in Springhill, N.S.

Tremblay began a three-year sentence at the prison two weeks ago after pleading guilty to possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

The agency says it will review the circumstances surrounding the death, as it does with all instances of inmates who die in custody.

Officials say they have notified Tremblay’s next of kin.

Tremblay was from Sainte-Anne-De-Kent, N.B.

The service did not immediately respond to request for comment.
