CITYnews halifax / By Steve Gow

With a busy Canada Day filled with lots of activity around the HRM, there are some closures to be made aware of.

Canada Day is a designated holiday, which means all major retailers, shopping malls, and NSLC stores will be closed on Wednesday.

There will also be municipal service adjustments as buses are operating on holiday schedule.

The Woodside ferry will be shut down for Canada’s 159th birthday while the Alderney ferry will be free to ride, however passengers are encouraged to make a donation to Parker Street Food Bank.

There will be no garbage, recycling or green bin collection on Wednesday; it will instead take place on Saturday for those residents impacted.

Other community stories:

The Otter Lake Waste Facility will also be closed but will reopen on Thursday with regular working hours.

All federal and provincial government offices are closed on Tuesday as well as Service Canada locations and Canada Post.

Municipal government services also remain closed.

The 311 Contact Centre will be closed but urgent calls can still be reported.

All banks and credit unions will be closed.
