Environment Canada has issued heat warnings for many areas outside the Halifax Regional Municipality as hot and humid conditions grip much of the province.

The agency says regions along the Bay of Fundy coast, from Digby to Cape Breton, could see humidex values in the mid to high 30s today.

The warning does not apply to Atlantic coastal communities on the mainland, where temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler.

“Still warm and humid in the Halifax area — highs of 28 C inland, feeling like 35 C,” said Aalders. “But as you make your way to the city, near 24 C, feeling like 32 C, then 19 C at the water’s edge.”

Aalders says fog is expected to move into HRM overnight, with temperatures dropping to 16 C. Tuesday’s forecast calls for a cooler daytime high of 22 C under a mix of sun and cloud.
