Drew Nickerson was transported to Halifax via LifeFlight helicopter after being attacked by three large-breed dogs while riding his bike near a property in Welshtown. The boy later succumbed to his injuries. An obituary page for Nickerson remembers the boy as a “kind, loving ‘outdoor kid’ through and through, who enjoyed riding and ramping his bike.” “We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of a Grade 8 student at Shelburne Regional High School,” said Jared Purdy, TCRCE Regional Executive Director. “We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends, and all those affected. A loss such as this is felt widely, and we recognize the impact it has across our schools and broader communities.” As of Monday morning, an online fundraiser has earned more than $148,000 in support of Nickerson’s family. According to the boy’s online obituary, a burial will take place at a later date. The dogs involved were euthanized by a veterinarian. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Applications open for mental health and addictions research grants next post Alderney ferry service to be reduced until further notice You may also like Diesel prices to shift again in Nova Scotia... 6 March، 2026 Halifax Water investigating ‘privacy incident’ on its online... 6 March، 2026 Halifax teens lament the loss of government program... 6 March، 2026 Spring Garden area businesses call out paid parking... 6 March، 2026 ‘A terrible idea’: Halifax to raise parking fees,... 6 March، 2026
