وكان كلام ترامب بحق النائبات الأربع، ثلاث منهن بنات مهاجرين والرابعة لجأت إلى الولايات المتحدة قبل نحو 20 عاماً، عن أنهن “يكرهن” الولايات المتحدة وأن بإمكانهنّ “العودة من حيث أتين إن رغبن بذلك” قد وُصف على نطاق واسع بأنه “عنصري”، وهي تهمة ردّها الرئيس الأميركي.
وبين عضوات الكونغرس الأربع أول مسلمتيْن تَدخلان مجلس النواب الأميركي منذ تأسيسه، هما رشيدة حربي طليب، الفلسطينيةُ الأصل، وإلهان عمر الصوماليةُ المولد.

“الكلام الذي قيل أمس جارح وغير مقبول وأعتقد أن لا أحد في كندا يعتقد أن هذا الكلام مقبول”، قال ترودو في المؤتمر الصحفي المشترك مع توسك في إشارة إلى الهتافات التي أُطلقت في لقاء ترامب مع مناصريه أمس، وأضاف رداً على سؤال أن كلاماً من هذا النوع يجب “ألّا يُقبل” و”ألّا يلقى تشجيعاً”.
يُشار إلى أن ترامب قال بعد الظهر اليوم إنه لا يتفق مع مضمون هتافات مناصريه مساء أمس.
