A woman was airlifted to hospital after a crash early Sunday afternoon on the south shore.

The RCMP said at about 4:20 p.m., a Dodge Ram heading west on the 103 in Port Mouton crossed the centre line.

According to police, a Ford Edge heading east swerved to avoid the Ram, which then slammed into an oncoming Chevrolet Silverado.

The passenger of the Silverado was seriously hurt and was flown to hospital. The driver and the two people in the Edge received minor injuries.

A 21-year-old Shelburne man who was driving the Ram was ticketed for driving to the left of a solid double line.

The highway has reopened in the area.
