The perfect weather to celebrate with your family indoors or outside. Feb. 16 marks the 12th Heritage Day, a provincial holiday observed in Nova Scotia. Below is a list of service disruptions you can expect. Shopping Most grocery stores will be closed on the holiday Monday. Gateway Meat Market in Dartmouth and Kingswood Market in Hammonds Plains will be open on holiday hours. The Halifax Shopping Centre and Mic Mac Mall will be closed. All NSLC will be closed. Craft beverage producers may have their taprooms or storefronts open. City Services The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be closed for full service on Monday. There will be no curbside garbage, green bin, recycling or bulky item collection on Monday. The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility and Materials Recovery Facility and the Municipal Recycling Facility will be closed. On street paid parking will be free on Monday. Halifax Transit Bus and Ferry Halifax Transit buses will operate on a holiday service schedule Monday. The Alderney Ferry will run on a 30-minute schedule. The first trip will depart the Alderney Ferry Terminal at 7:30 a.m., and the final trip will depart Halifax Ferry Terminal at 11:45 p.m. There will be no Woodside Ferry Service. Activities All Halifax Library locations will be closed on Monday. Several city recreation facilities will be closed. Cole Harbour Place will open at noon.
