The Halifax Regional Municipality says the top speed will be lowered to 40 km/h on Joseph Young Street and True North Crescent. In a news release, HRM says this is part of an ongoing initiative to improve road safety. Speed limits on public roadways are legislated by the province’s Motor Vehicle Act. “The province allows municipalities to request posted speed limits below 50 km/h if accompanied by necessary documentation including current operating speeds and roadway characteristics,” HRM says. “The speed limit reduction in these areas is being implemented following provincial approval based on available data and an assessment of roadway characteristics that meet their qualifications.” Crews will start the work this week. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post What happens when you call Crime Stoppers? next post Nova Scotia man wants answers after wife dies following seven-hour ER wait You may also like Diesel prices to shift again in Nova Scotia... 6 March، 2026 Halifax Water investigating ‘privacy incident’ on its online... 6 March، 2026 Halifax teens lament the loss of government program... 6 March، 2026 Spring Garden area businesses call out paid parking... 6 March، 2026 ‘A terrible idea’: Halifax to raise parking fees,... 6 March، 2026
