CANADAHALIFAX news Some Halifax Water data stolen as part of NS government security breach by admin 13 يونيو، 2023 written by admin 13 يونيو، 2023 106 CITYnews halifax \ By Dan Ahlstrand Halifax Water said on Monday that some of its customers were affected by the Nova Scotia government data leak. The utility says the breach was brought to its attention by the province, which told them that a data file regularly transferred through the provincial IT network had been compromised. Approximately 25,000 account numbers and names belonging to Halifax Water customers were exposed during the breach. However, Halifax Water said no additional personal or financial records were compromised, ensuring unauthorized access to customer accounts is unlikely. As a precaution, the utility said it immediately ceased using the Province’s file-sharing network until a new secure version could be implemented. The company is collaborating closely with the Province to address the breach and prevent any further unauthorized access to customer data. Halifax Water says this breach has not affected its ability to provide essential water, wastewater, and stormwater services, and they remain committed to safeguarding the privacy and security of customer data. For further information, affected customers can visit Halifax Water’s official website or can contact their Customer Care Centre at 902-420-9287. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Police in Nova Scotia charge man with abduction after Amber Alert next post Nova Scotia firefighters use choppers, walkers to stamp out wildfire hot spots You may also like
