Restrictions on travel from New Brunswick return Wednesday morning

Restrictions are returning at the border between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. 

As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, unvaccinated and partially vaccinated travelers will be required to isolate upon arrival in Nova Scotia.

People with one dose of COVID-19 vaccine will have to isolate for one week, while those who haven’t gotten any shots will have to do a full two weeks.

Premier-designate Tim Houston made the announcement at his first COVID-19 briefing on Monday.

“Given the situation in New Brunswick and the connection to new cases here at home, Dr. [Robert] Strang is today recommending we re-establish border measures with New Brunswick,” Houston said.

The restrictions won’t apply to fully vaccinated people.

Everyone entering from New Brunswick will have to fill out the Nova Scotia safe check-in form online and upload proof of vaccination.

According to the province, workers and students who frequently cross the border, and those making quick trips will not have to self-isolate, but will have to follow the Nova Scotia-New Brunswick travel protocol.
