On Monday morning, officers responded to a report of an alleged assault with an axe at a home on Greenwood Street where one person suffered serious injuries. Mounties said they then began searching for John Douglas Cress who was wanted in connection to the attack, adding the victim and the suspect knew each other. The search was assisted by emergency response teams, police dog services and air support. At roughly 11:40 a.m., police safely arrested Cress and the emergency alert was cancelled.
