Rain on the way for much of Nova Scotia

Some much-needed rain is in the forecast for much of the province, including an area still dealing with a large wildfire.

CityNews weather specialist Allister Aalders says a system will bring rain into southwestern Nova Scotia on Thursday evening before spreading into the Halifax area after midnight.

The rain is forecasted to taper off through Friday morning with a chance of showers sticking around after it moves out.

“It’s a general 10 to 25 mm of rain across the entire province, and here in the Halifax area I’m expecting 15 to 25 mm,” Aalders explained. “I do think there will be some areas of up to upwards of 40 or maybe 50 mm of rain, and that looks most likely through parts of Digby and Yarmouth counties, southern Cumberland County and into the western Highlands.”

Aalders says that rain will be beneficial for firefighters who continue to battle the Long Lake wildfires near West Dalhousie.

After the rain clears out, he says the forecast shows a sunny weekend to end September.
