That program is tied to the pandemic state-of-emergency, placing a cap on rental increases. Premier-designate Tim Houston on Monday said he “doesn’t see a scenario” where the program is extended. “We need more housing, that’s the only way to solve a housing crisis,” Houston said. “I think there are lots of ramifications of rent control that are actually not productive to adding housing stock.” Advocates and tenants have recently shared stories of notice from landlords that their rent will be increasing, drastically in some cases, once the rent control program ends. Houston was asked if rent control could help bridge the gap, since more housing will take time to build. “We’ll have discussions with anyone who wants to talk about solutions for bridging or whatever is necessary in the short term,” he said. “I just don’t believe rent control is a way to a long-term solution to the problem that we have here, and I think it could be a deterrent to a long-term solution.” 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post نحو فهم المعاني الفلسفية للطبيعة بين الفطرة والإصطناع التشويهي next post N.S. top court: judges must consider systemic racism when sentencing Black offenders You may also like جامعة غويلف: ارتفاع عدد الطلاب المصابين بإنفلونزا المعدة... 9 يناير، 2025 كنديون يبدون آراءهم في كلام ترامب عن ’’الولاية... 9 يناير، 2025 كندا تعدّ ردّاً على الرسوم الجمركية التي هدّدها... 9 يناير، 2025 مطالب بمزيد من التمويل للتعليم في شمال أونتاريو 9 يناير، 2025 Bible Hill suspicious death ruled homicide, says RCMP 9 يناير، 2025 Hot water overflow, not chemical leak, prompted emergency... 9 يناير، 2025 Pedestrian injuries: Advocate says Halifax goals for safety... 9 يناير، 2025 RCMP investigate Mahone Bay deaths as intimate partner... 9 يناير، 2025 Pictou County man wanted on province-wide warrant arrested 9 يناير، 2025 Nova Scotia sees 35 per cent drop in... 9 يناير، 2025 Leave a Comment Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.
