Two recent arrests in Nova Scotia that resulted in broken bones are being investigated by the province’s police watchdog.

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is reporting that a struggle ensued when RCMP officers tried to arrest an apparent impaired driver in Digby on December 28.

SiRT says the man was put in a cell and EHS workers diagnosed him with a broken collarbone.

Meanwhile, on January 21, an officer with the Town of Amherst’s police department allegedly used a taser to subdue a man who wasn’t cooperating.

According to SiRT, the man fell, and was taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with two broken ribs.

He was released into police custody.

SiRT is investigating an arrest from January 21, 2024, after the Amherst Police Department received a complaint of a disturbance in progress / www.amherst.ca
