(Halifax Humane Society) CANADAHALIFAX news New Animal Resource Centre strives to keep animals with their loving families by admin 15 February، 2026 written by admin 15 February، 2026 37 CITYnews halifax / By Rachel Morgan Considering spreading the love this year by donating to your local animal shelter. That donation may just allow a furry companion to stay with their loved ones. Recognizing a growing cost of living crisis, the Halifax Humane Society has begun operating an animal resource centre to eliminate some of the barriers Haligonians experience to keeping their pets happy, healthy and at home. “We know now that surrender is rarely what people want. Most families love their pets deeply and simply need help, guidance, or time,” the humane society says. When financial hardship, an unexpected vet bill, or a changing housing situation hits, oftentimes the only option has been to surrender your furry friend. “Today, Halifax Humane Society is focused on meeting families where they are — without judgment — and working together to find solutions that keep pets in their homes whenever possible,” they say.
