Dancers tired of independent contractor employment status, push for better working conditions at city’s clubs.

On a Monday night in October 1967, three topless dancers donned slacks and overcoats to picket outside their workplace in downtown Vancouver.

Pearl Johnson, 18, spokesperson for the trio, said they were seeking an increase in their $100-a-week salary, a staff rate on meals and a heater in their dressing room, according to a local paper’s two-sentence news brief….
