An American-based sports entertainment firm says it has crafted plans to construct a 25,000-seat stadium with an adjacent entertainment district on the outskirts of the municipality. U.S. football agent Mason Williams is behind the business known as Ridgehaven Holdings, which drafted a plan that also includes housing, retail space and hotels in the area as part of the proposal. As well, Williams says the entire project will be paid for by private investors, insisting that there will be no government funding involved with the development. The project is still in the preliminary stages, as the partners have yet to acquire any land or submit permit applications. Since 2005, the CFL has hosted several Touchdown Atlantic games in the Maritimes, including one held at Raymond Field in Wolfville in 2022 and a sold-out game between the Toronto Argonauts and Saskatchewan Roughriders at Huskies Stadium in Halifax in 2023.
