Halifax Regional Police have handed a man a $2,422 ticket under the Health Protection Act.

Police were called to a party at a residence Saturday night they say exceeded the province’s mandated gathering limits.

Nova Scotia is currently in Phase 4 of its reopening plan, which allows for up to 25 people to attend an informal indoor gathering without social distancing and masks. The limit is 50 if the gathering is held outside.

“We strongly advise members of the public to continue to educate themselves on these public health directives and COVID-19 enforcement measures, including those related to illegal gatherings and associated fines,” said HRP in a news release.
