Man faces long list of charges after alleged home invasion in Beaver Bank

According to police, the homeowner and her son were assaulted, money was stolen and an animal was struck before the suspects fled

A man is facing a long list of charges, accused by police in a home invasion last week in Beaver Bank.

RCMP said officers were called to a home on Susan Dr. around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 to reports of two men forcing their way into the home a firing a gun.

According to police, the homeowner and her son were assaulted, money was stolen and an animal was struck before the suspects fled. Neither of the victims were reported to be seriously hurt but one was taken to hospital.

The Mounties said the suspects crashed their vehicle into a nearby snowbank and took off on foot. Police report finding a prohibited shotgun and ammunition in the vehicle and managed to arrest one of the suspects nearby.

Police have charged 35-year-old Jonathan David James Murphy of Lower Sackville with multiple offences including assault with a weapon, robbery and break and enter.

Murphy was held over the weekend and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
