Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in a Dartmouth homicide and have obtained a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest.

Officers were called to a residence on Braeside Court early Saturday morning where they found the body of Alexander Joseph Frederick Thomas.

The 35-year-old from East Preston had been charged with the sexual assault and forcible confinement in a 2018 incident.

Tyreece Alexander Whynder-Ewing, 27, has been charged with second-degree murder in his death.

HRP do not believe the incident is random and they are not looking for any other suspects at this time.

Police have not yet released a photo of the suspect or a description.
