A sign in the North End posted for participants on the Bluenose Marathon (Steve Gow) CANADAHALIFAX news Macdonald Bridge to close Sunday morning for Bluenose Marathon by admin 16 مايو، 2026 written by admin 16 مايو، 2026 73 CITYnews halifax / By Mark Hodgins It’s Bluenose Marathon weekend in Halifax and along with lots of events for participants, there are road closures to be aware of. Events are underway with several impacts for commuters through Sunday. Street closures scheduled for Saturday and Sunday include stretches of Cogswell, Cunard and Agricola with a parking ban to be enforced in several areas as well. That means commuters can expect detours for a number of Halifax Transit routes. According to Halifax Harbour Bridges, the Macdonald Bridge will be closed to all vehicles from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday as part of the Blue Nose Marathon route, however the sidewalk and bicycle lane will be open as usual. The municipality says Halifax Regional Police will be on hand to let traffic through some of the closures when participants are not on the street. Drivers are asked to use extra caution this weekend on the peninsula, with thousands of people taking part in or watching the events. There is more information available on the Bluenose Marathon website.
