CITYnews halifax / By Chris Halef

After serving more than 1,200 free meals ahead of Christmas, a local Halifax charity has now set its sights on New Year’s Eve.

Souls Harbour Rescue Mission says it will be serving the free restaurant-quality turkey meals and trimmings, thanks in large part to the many donors of the charity.

In a release, the organization says it expects to serve more than 300 guests in Halifax from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Souls Harbour will be hosting the lunch at their location on 5568 Cunard Street.

According to CEO, Michelle Porter, the event is about bringing hope, connection and a sense of belonging to the community as they look for a fresh start to the New Year.

Souls Harbour recently hosted its 35th Annual Christmas Dinner, which served hundreds of people across the province.
