Late-night fire damages Lower Sackville home; cause unknown

The cause of a house fire in Lower Sackville remains under investigation Wednesday morning.

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency crews were called to a residence on Smokey Drive at 11:40 p.m. following reports of a fire. Officials said when crews arrived, they found heavy flames on the exterior of the single-storey home, which had begun to spread inside.

Crews managed to knock down the fire by midnight.

All occupants evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.

Officials say the origin and cause of the fire have yet to be determined.
