The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Kearney Lake Beach in Halifax and Albro Lake Beach in Dartmouth are closed to swimming until further notice due to high bacteria levels in the water. HRM staff regularly test the water quality at all supervised municipal beaches and two unsupervised beaches during the summer months. Several factors including birds, climate change impacts, dogs and birds can cause high bacteria levels. HRM staff will continue testing the water until bacteria levels have reduced to safer levels.
