In a report released Wednesday morning, Evangeline Colman-Sadd reports the fire service is not fulfilling its legislated inspection obligations. She adds fire inspections are not always completed in a timely manner and there is no reliable inventory of buildings to inspect. “Without an adequate inventory, it is difficult to know if a property exists, and whether and when a building should be inspected,” Colman-Sadd said in a news release. Colman-Sadd goes on to say Halifax Fire management currently doesn’t have sufficient plans to improve this situation. The auditor general has made 14 recommendations and says management has agreed to implement them all.
