According to Halifax Professional Fire Fighters (HPFF), in a post on social media, on Saturday night, around midnight, teams from Stations 2 and 3 were called to a dumpster fire behind a downtown building on Hollis Street. “While these incidents may seem routine, dumpster fires carry a significant risk,” the union said. In these incidents, the “fire load” is high, meaning flames have a lot of material to consume, making the blaze hotter and bigger. Dumpsters are also located close to buildings, the union said, creating a demanding situation for crews. In the Hollis Street incident, teams were able to knock down the blaze before it spread to the nearby structure. The report was for a structure on fire. While en route, teams were delayed by construction in the area, and a neighbouring station was sent to find the building on fire. “An aggressive interior attack kept the fire contained to the room of origin,” HPFF said in the release. Firefighters also rescued two dogs from the building. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Pugwash man charged for claiming to be police officer next post Province explores ways to reduce traffic on Halifax peninsula You may also like Diesel prices to shift again in Nova Scotia... 6 March، 2026 Halifax Water investigating ‘privacy incident’ on its online... 6 March، 2026 Halifax teens lament the loss of government program... 6 March، 2026 Spring Garden area businesses call out paid parking... 6 March، 2026 ‘A terrible idea’: Halifax to raise parking fees,... 6 March، 2026
