CANADAHALIFAX news Diesel prices to shift again in Nova Scotia with second interrupter this week by admin 6 March، 2026 written by admin 6 March، 2026 18 CITYnews halifax / By Steve Gow Fuel prices continue to climb in Nova Scotia as the interrupter is invoked once again. In its weekly adjustment, the Nova Scotia Energy Board switched the minimum price of regular self-serve gasoline overnight to 152.7 cents per litre, a jump of 5 cents. Diesel prices also saw a sharp rise of more than 10 cents to now sit at 201.5 cents per litre. Although the provincial regulator normally makes fuel price changes every Friday, this steep decision comes just two days after it invoked the interrupter clause to hike prices due to the war in Iran, impacting the global market price of oil. But the NEB is invoking the interrupter once again Friday night due to significant shifts in the market. The regulator said only diesel prices will change and gas prices will not be impacted. On Wednesday, Nova Scotians watched as gas prices went up by nearly 9 cents and diesel prices by 7.6 cents. In total, Halifax gas prices have risen nearly 15 cents since midweek and the price of diesel has seen a hike of more than 17 cents. At this time in 2025, gasoline prices in Nova Scotia were set at 157.9, and diesel was 185.9. GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan says the fuel markets are seeing significant shifts from the war and impacts to the Strait of Hormuz. “The longer this issue goes along, the more possibility we could see prices rise to numbers we haven’t seen in quite some time,” De Haan said. “$2 per litre is certainly within the means, and potentially beyond that.” De Haan added jet fuel prices have jumped as well, which could begin to impact things like flight prices. 0 comment 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail admin previous post Halifax Water investigating ‘privacy incident’ on its online portal next post WATCH: Evacuation flights & Canada’s Iran position You may also like Halifax Water investigating ‘privacy incident’ on its online... 6 March، 2026 Halifax teens lament the loss of government program... 6 March، 2026 Spring Garden area businesses call out paid parking... 6 March، 2026 ‘A terrible idea’: Halifax to raise parking fees,... 6 March، 2026 Man found with gunshot wound in Dartmouth 5 March، 2026
