Charges laid in Halifax stabbing

A 19-year-old man will face a series of charges after a stabbing in downtown Halifax on Monday.  Officers were called to an area of Brunswick and Carmichael streets around 3:50 p.m. Monday after a report that a man had been stabbed.

The 24-year-old victim was taken from the scene to the hospital for treatment of what are described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Caleb Matthew Peters, 19, was arrested a short time after the incident and faces the following charges:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
  • Obstruction
  • Fail to comply with a release order

Peters was scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on Tuesday.
