A second body has been recovered more than months after two men went missing while ice fishing in Annapolis County.

The search got underway late on the night of March 10, as the RCMP responded to a report of two men, aged 73 and 77, not returning home after going ice fishing in Belleisle.

One of the men was found dead the following day, but the second man was not located.

According to police, the RCMP was called last Friday to a report of a body found on the shore of the Annapolis River near Belleisle.

“The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service was engaged and confirmed that the remains were those of the second missing ice fisher,” read a media release from police.

The RCMP said several organizations were involved in the search, including local volunteer fire departments, search and rescue groups along with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and the provincial department of Natural Resources.
