Some Fairview residents have been temporarily displaced.

The Canadian Red Cross says a fire broke out Monday evening in an apartment on Skeena Street.

It set off the 12-unit building’s sprinkler system, causing some water damage.

The organization is helping families who were living in two of the apartments with emergency lodging, meals and other basics.

Other tenants made their own arrangements for the night, but the Red Cross says they’ll help them out if needed.
