CITYnews halifax /  By Devin Stevens, The Canadian Press

Nova Scotia fire crews are continuing to hold a wildfire burning northeast of Halifax.

Officials say the Mooseland Road fire has not grown since Sunday afternoon and still covers about 14.5 square kilometres.

Ground crews and heavy equipment operators are expected to continue suppression efforts throughout the day.

Two Department of Natural Resources helicopters are at the site, about 100 kilometres northwest of Halifax, to help with surveillance.

The fire first became out of control Thursday evening with an evacuation order issued for about 100 homes, cottages and cabins in the rural area.

On Monday, the evacuation order was reduced, allowing some people to return to their homes. Addresses between 2124 and 2890 Mooseland Rd. are still under an evacuation order.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 20, 2026.
