RCMP in several regions of Nova Scotia say they pulled two dozen unsafe cars off the road during roadside inspections earlier this month.

In a release, the Mounties says of the 68 vehicles it inspected, 24 were deemed too dangerous to drive and were towed away.

They also say dozens of tickets were handed out.

The inspections were carried out in the counties of Yarmouth, Digby, Shelburne, Kings, Annapolis and Hants.

The traffic blitz was in coordination with the province’s Vehicle Transportation Inspection Unit and provincial motor vehicle compliance officers and conducted between June 9 and 11.

“Ensuring your vehicle is properly maintained is critical,” says staff-sergeant Wes Blair, acting officer in charge of RCMP traffic services in a post online. “Everyone who travels our roads deserves to arrive safely,”
