N.S. Premier gives up energy minister role in cabinet shuffle

CITYnews halifax / By Chris Halef

Nova Scotia’s Premier is no longer the province’s energy minister as he shuffles his cabinet.

Marco MacLeod will take over as minister of energy after Tim Houston appointed himself the role last October.

“Nova Scotia is becoming an energy superpower, and Marco has played an important role helping me as I seek out new opportunities to grow our domestic energy production and make Nova Scotia more self-reliant,” said Premier Houston.

Houston has appointed Susan Corkum-Greek as minister of opportunities and social development while Brian Wong will become minister of advanced education.

Tory Rushton will once again become the minister of natural resources after a break from cabinet.

“These changes will allow ministers to dedicate their full focus to their departments as we create more opportunities for Nova Scotians,” said Houston.
