Just over a month after a man went missing from Pictou County, the RCMP charged another with murder in the investigation.

Steven Boudreau, 61, was reported missing from Hopewell on April 19.

“The initial investigation determined that the circumstances surrounding Boudreau’s disappearance were suspicious and the RCMP Southwest Nova Major Crime Unit (SWN MCU) took carriage of the investigation,” reads a statement from the RCMP. “Investigators subsequently gathered information and evidence that ultimately led to the successful recovery of Boudreau’s remains.”

According to police, Cody Reid Palmer, 29, was arrested on Wednesday in Torbrook in the Annapolis Valley.

Palmer was charged with first-degree murder and was to be held in police custody pending a second court appearance set for June 16.
