RCMP issued the emergency alert just after 8:10 p.m on Tuesday, warning residents of a man in the area armed with a machete in an area near 46 Petpeswick Rd.

Police advised people living in that area to shelter in place, stay indoors and close and lock doors and windows. Just after 11 p.m. police issued an update saying that they no longer believed that there was any danger to the public, but remained in the area as part of their ongoing investigation.

The suspect is described as being 6 feet tall with brown hair and brown eyes.
