Youth suffers life-threatening injuries following dog attack in Shelburne

Shelburne RCMP is investigating a dog attack that left a youth with life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, emergency crews responded to a report of a dog attack that took place on Upper Sandy Cove Road in Welshtown.. The press release notes that three large-breed dogs attacked a youth who was riding a bicycle by the property.

Police said an EHS LifeFlight helicopter transported the victim to Halifax with life-threatening injuries, adding the dogs involved have been euthanized by a veterinarian.

Mounties said the investigation is ongoing.
