كثيرة كان لها أهميتها الخاصة، كونها شكلت مادة معرفية مهمة، ألقت الضوء على تاريخ الشعوب والحضارات، وعلى المستوى الميثولوجي والأنثروبولوجي أيضا. ونالت مخطوطات أدب الرحلة اهتماما واسعا من قبل كثير من الجامعات الأوروبية والأميركية والعربية والآسيوية، إذ دُرِست دراسات مستفيضة، وقام بتحقيقها وضبطها باحثون عديدون، ينتمون إلى مدارس أدبية وفكرية، متشعبة، ومتباينة في الآن نفسه. وتزايد الاهتمام بأدب الرحلة في العصر الحديث، وظهرت نصوص وخطابات جديدة، احتفت بالأسفار والمدن والبلاد، القريبة والبعيدة، وجغرافيتها وتاريخها وحياة سكانها، أدبا وثقافة وعادات، وأعرافا وقيما اجتماعية ومعرفية، ونشاطا اجتماعيا وأنثروبولوجيا وصفيا. وقد اتسمت هذه النصوص بجرأة واضحة في نقل ما هو جميل وقبيح، ومرذول ومستهجن، ووصفها، في هذه البلدان والمدن التي وصل إليها الرحالة العرب والمسلمون. ومن أحدث الكتب المعاصرة التي صدرت مستجلية آفاق أدب الرحلة، وما كتب فيه، عارضة لأهم مدونات أدب الرحلة، قديما وحديثا، كتاب بعنوان: “أدب الرحلة: جدلية الأنا والآخر في عالم متغير”، قام بتأليفه مجموعة من الباحثين والأكاديميين، وأساتذة الجامعات العربية، وقام بتنسيقه، وكتب مقدمته الباحث المغربي الدكتور خالد التوزاني، وقد صدر هذا الكتاب ضمن منشورات المركز المغربي للاستثمار الثقافي (مساق)، ومقره مدينة (فاس) المغربية، وقامت بطباعته دار كنوز المعرفة بعمّان (الأردن)، وصدر في طبعة أنيقة، وعلى قدر كبير من الجمال. يضم هذا الكتاب ثلاثة وثلاثون بحثا أكاديما، بالإضافة إلى المقدمة، وقد وُزِعت ضمن سبعة فصول جاءت على الشكل التالي: تقديم بقلم
