Regional police have charged a fourth person in connection with a shooting in the city’s north end last month.

On June 26, at roughly 3:30 p.m., officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire near Buddy Daye Street and Gottingen Street but there were no reported injuries.

Police said the suspects fled the scene, but three people were arrested later that night, and a gun was seized.

According to Halifax Regional Police, Mounties executed a search warrant Wednesday night on Cross Street in Truro, where they seized ammunition and arrested an 18-year-old man who was turned over to Halifax Regional Police.

Alijah Williams Vanlunen, 18, was scheduled to appear in provincial court on Friday to face a slew of charges including:

  • Discharging a firearm with intent
  • Disguise with intent
  • Possession of a firearm or restricted weapon obtained by crime
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Use of a firearm in commission of an offence
  • Break of undertaking
  • Disobeying court orders

Police said he had been on an undertaking not to be in possession of firearms and was on house arrest.
