وقالت شركة آبل في بيان: “الوضع الصحي الحالي يتطلب إنشاء شكل جديد للمؤتمر هذا العام”.
وغالباً ما يتمّ استخدام المؤتمر الذي يقام في يونيو/حزيران للإعلان عن منتجات آبل ومميزات برامجها الحديثة.
وتباع جميع تذاكر المؤتمر، وهي مخصصة لمطوّري برامج آبل، بالكامل ويبلغ سعر التذكرة الواحدة 1600 دولار.
وأعلنت آبل أنها “ستستضيف مؤتمرها العالمي للمطورين في يونيو/حزيران… بشكل جديد تماماً عبر الإنترنت”.
وستكشف التفاصيل الكاملة في الأسابيع المقبلة، إلا أنّ مدير التسويق في الشركة، فيل شيلر، وعد “ببرنامج كامل مع كلمة رئيسية وجلسات عبر الإنترنت”.
وستخصّص الشركة أيضاً مليون دولار للمؤسسات المحلية في سان خوسيه، كاليفورنيا، “لتعويض خسارة الإيرادات المرتبطة نتيجة نقل المؤتمر الى الإنترنت”.
وعادةً ما يتمّ بث الخطاب الرئيسي السنوي للرئيس التنفيذي للشركة تيم كوك عبر الإنترنت في كل عام إلى جمهور أكبر بكثير من الجمهور الموجود في مركز المؤتمرات في سان خوسيه.

وجاء الحضور في السنوات السابقة من جميع أنحاء العالم. وتقول شركة آبل إنّ برنامج المطورين فيها يشمل 23 مليون شخصاً من155 دولة.
وشهد مؤتمر العام الماضي حدثين بارزين هما الكشف عن جهاز “ماك برو” جديد وشاشة “برو ديسبلاي اكس دي آر” المتطورة. ويعلن خلال المؤتمر أيضاً عن ميزات جديدة لبرامج آبل مثل “آي أو أس” و “ماك أو أس”.
ومؤتمر آبل الفعلي الذي كان من المفترض أن يشارك فيه الآلاف هو آخر حدث في مجال التكنولوجيا يُلغي بسبب فيروس كورونا.
فقد أُلغي أهم حدث لعشاق الألعاب الالكترونية “إي 3” في وقت سابق، ويبحث منظموه “الخيارات” للحصول على “تجربة عبر الإنترنت” في يونيو/حزيران.
كما تمّ تأجيل مؤتمر “التكنولوجيا والترفيه والتصميمات” والمعروف اختصارا باسم “تيد”، إذ كان المنظمون يقترحون فكرة إقامته عبر الانترنت قبل أن يقرروا اختيار موعد لاحق.
وتأثرت المؤتمرات الرئيسية لكل من غوغل وفيسبوك بالإضافة إلى مؤتمر مطوري الألعاب ومؤتمر ساوث باي ساوث ويست والمؤتمر العالمي للهواتف المتنقلة.
