سكاي نيوز عربية / وكالات – أبوظبي / بعد ساعات من الإعلان عن وفاة نحو 2300 شخص بفيروس كورونا في الولايات المتحدة، الأربعاء، نشرت جامعة جونز هوبكنز الأميركية إحصاء جديدا، يزيد مأساة الساعات الأربع والعشرين الأخيرة في البلد الموبوء بالوباء.
وحسب الجامعة التي تعد مرجعاً في تتبّع الإصابات والوفيات الناجمة عن الفيروس الفتاك، فقد سجلت الولايات المتحدة وفاة حوالى 2600 شخص من جراء “عدو البشرية” خلال 24 ساعة، وهي أعلى حصيلة يومية على الإطلاق يسجلها بلد في العالم.
وأظهرت البيانات التي نشرتها الجامعة أن وباء كوفيد-19 حصد تحديدا أرواح 2569 شخصاً في الولايات المتحدة، لترتفع بذلك الحصيلة الإجمالية للوفيات الناجمة عن الوباء إلى 28326 وفاة.
وفي نهاية الأسبوع الماضي أصبحت الولايات المتحدة البلد الأول عالمياً من حيث عدد الوفيات الناجمة عن الوباء الفتّاك.
وتحتل الولايات المتّحدة أيضاً المرتبة الأولى عالمياً في عدد المصابين بالوباء والذين تخطّى عددهم 637 ألف مصاب، علماً بأن حوالى 3.2 ملايين شخص تقريباً في هذا البلد خضعوا حتى اليوم لفحص مخبري للتثبت ممّا إذا كانوا مصابين بالفيروس أم لا.
ورغم تلك التطورات، فقد رجح الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب أن تكون بلاده قد “اجتازت ذروة” تفشي الوباء، مشيراً إلى أنه سيعقد مؤتمراً صحفياً الخميس يعلن فيه عن “التوجيهات” التي ستحكم عملية “إعادة فتح” الاقتصاد الأكبر في العالم.
وقال ترامب: “غداً سيكون يوماً عظيماً، سنتحدث مع حكام (الولايات) وستكون لدينا معلومات عن بعض عمليات إعادة فتح” الاقتصاد في عدد من الولايات.
وتابع “سنعيد فتح عدد من الولايات، بعض الولايات قبل غيرها. في الواقع بعض الولايات يمكنها أن تعيد فتح (اقتصادها) قبل موعد الأول من مايو”.
وسجلت الولايات المتحدة أول حالة وفاة بالفيروس في 29 فبراير، واستغرق الأمر 38 يوما لارتفاع الحصيلة إلى 10 آلاف، ثم 9 أيام أخرى فقط للوصول إلى 30 ألفا.
وتجاوزت حالات الإصابة بأنحاء البلاد 635 ألفا، وفي العالم مليوني حالة.
ورغم ارتفاع الوفيات فإن هناك إشارات أولية، في بعض الأجزاء من البلاد، على أن التفشي بدأ في الانحسار.
وقال مسؤول أميركي كبير بقطاع الصحة، الأربعاء، إن حكام نحو 20 ولاية بها أعداد قليلة من حالات فيروس كورونا المستجد، يعتقدون أنهم قد يكونون مستعدين للبدء في إجراءات إعادة تشغيل الأعمال خلال الموعد الذي يستهدفه ترامب في الأول من مايو.
ومن بين الولايات الخمسين سجلت 17 ولاية إصابات بالفيروس أقل من 100 حالة، الثلاثاء.
وقال حكام الولايات الأشد تضررا وهي نيويورك وكاليفورنيا ولويزيانا ونيوجيرسي وماساتشوستس وميشيغان إن هناك حاجة لإجراء المزيد من الفحوص الواسعة قبل بدء إنهاء إجراءات العزل العام الأميركية، التي أبعدت الملايين عن العمل نتيجة إغلاق المطاعم والأعمال التجارية والمدارس.
