كأن القيامة والموت عندكِ
لا يُنْسَبانِ إلى وحدة الله لكنْ
إلى كَثرة الآلههْ

لبيروتَ خِبْرَتُها في انتحار الزمان الجميلِ…
لماذا يجنّ الزمان الجميل على أرضها كلما اسْتَيقظَتْ
شهوةٌ لنبيٍّ جديدْ
لماذا تطير ببيروتَ أجنحةٌ قاتلهْ؟
لماذا يلفُّ المدينةَ هذا الغموضُ اللذيذُ ونشرب حتى الثُمالةِ من مِتعة اللاأمان؟
لماذا نخافكِ أنتِ ونقفز منك إليك بكل الذكاء الذي ما سرقناه منكِ ولكنْ وجدناه فيكِ…
لماذا نقاتل موجكِ نعْبر كل الأزقّة حيث البناياتُ مثلُ رجالٍ طوالِ الأنوف
وحيث المصابيح عمياءُ مثلُ الوطاويطْ…
هنا لا تصيح المدينةُ إني هنا بل ستظهر فوق الرصيف صباحاً
على الشاطئ الدائريِّ…
ستمشي الصحارى الجبالُ المصارف والجامعات …
