ميدل ايست اونلاين / نيويورك – ساهمت الكاتبة الأميركية توني موريسون التي توفيت أمس الاثنين عن 88 عاما، في الإضاءة على أهمية أدب السود لكونها الكاتبة الأميركية السوداء الوحيدة الحائزة على جائزة نوبل للآداب.
وبإحدى عشرة رواية فقط بينها ‘بيلافد’ (جائزة بوليتزر 1988) و’هوم’ (2012) و’غاد هيلب ذي تشايلد’ (2015)، كانت هذه الكاتبة الأميركية ذات الشعر المجدّل والتي تنحدر من سلالة عائلة من العبيد، أول سوداء تحصل على مقعد في جامعة برينستون التي لطالما كان أساتذتها من الرجال البيض.
وخلال تسليمها جائزة نوبل في 1993، أشادت الأكاديمية السويدية بنتاج هذه الكاتبة التي اختارت نيويورك مقرا لها، منوهة خصوصا بمخيلتها الواسعة وقدرتها على التعبير الشاعري وتوصيفها الحي لجانب أساسي من الحقيقة الأميركية.
وولدت الكاتبة التي حملت شهرة الرجل الأبيض الذي كان يستعبد أجدادها، في 18 فبراير/شباط عام 1931 في لوراين قرب كليفلاند بولاية أوهايو شمال الولايات المتحدة في عائلة مزارعين من أربعة أطفال واسمها الأصلي كلوي أنطوني ووفورد.
وكان والدها يكره البيض، فيما كانت والدتها ربة منزل محبة للحياة وكبرت توني موريسون في وسط فقير ومتعدد الثقافات، ولطالما أكدت على أنها لم تدرك حجم التمييز العنصري إلا لدى التحاقها سنة 1949 بجامعة ‘هاورد يونيفرسيتي’ الملقبة ‘هارفرد السوداء’ في واشنطن.
وتابعت بثقة عالية في النفس دراستها في جامعة كورنيل، حيث قدمت أطروحة عن مقاربة وليام فوكنر وفيرجينيا وولف لموضوع الانتحار. وقد أصبحت أستاذة للأدب في تكساس قبل العودة إلى واشنطن.
وتزوجت في 1958 من هارولد موريسون طالب الهندسة المنحدر من أصول جامايكية، لكنها انفصلت عنه في 1964 وأقامت مع ابنيها البالغين ثلاث سنوات وثلاثة أشهر في نيويورك.
وأصبحت ناشرة لدى ‘راندوم هاوس’ في وقت كانت أميركا في عز نضالها من أجل الحقوق المدنية، وخاضت موريسون نضالا من أجل حقوق السود من خلال نشر سيرتي محمد علي وأنجيلا ديفيس.
وقد شكل كتابها من المختارات الأدبية ‘ذي بلاك بوك’ (1974) الذي خضع لتنقيحات عدة، حافزا لجيل بأكمله من الكتاب لكي يوصلوا صوتهم.
وقد نشرت في سن التاسعة والثلاثين كتابها الأول ‘ذي بلويست آي’، أظهرت من خلاله حسها الفكاهي خلافا للنصوص الملتزمة في حركة ‘بلاك باور’ (القوة السوداء) التي كانت رائجة حينها.
وتروي فيه قصة مراهقة سوداء وهي زميلة لها مهووسة بالجمال الذي تجسدّه الدمى البيضاء ذات العيون الزرقاء تصاب بالجنون بعد حملها من والدها بالتبنّي، حيث لم تبع سوى 700 نسخة من هذا الكتاب.
وأخبرت الكاتبة التي كانت معروفة بتمسّكها بإيمانها الكاثوليكي “لم يكن لديّ سوى مخيّلتي وحسّ كبير من السخرية ومعاملة جليلة للكلمات”.
وذاع صيتها في العام 1977 مع ‘سونغ أوف سالومون’ (أنشودة سالومون)، قبل أن يسطع نجمها على الساحة العالمية سنة 1985 مع ‘بيلافد’ (المحبوبة) الذي يروي القصة المأسوية لشابة من المستعبدين تقتل ابنتها لتجنّبها هذا المصير.
ونالت الكاتبة جائزة بوليتزر بفضل هذا العمل الذي اعتبرته صحيفة نيويورك تايمز سنة 2006 أفضل رواية في السنوات الخمس والعشرين الأخيرة.
وعهدت موريسون توقيع افتتاحيات صحافية وكانت قد كتبت سنة 1998 في خضمّ فضيحة مونيكا لوينسكي، أن بيل كلينتون هو أول رئيس أسود للولايات المتحدة، مشيرة بعد سنوات إلى أنه عومل مثل أسود في الشارع وثبت ذنبه وجرمه من دون محاكمة.
ونشرت الكاتبة المعروفة بمناصرتها الحزب الديمقراطي وتأييدها الكبير للرئيس السابق باراك أوباما مقالا في نيويوركر غداة انتخاب الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب عنوانه “في حداد على البياض”.
وصحيح أنها كانت تكتب في بداياتها من أجل السود، إلا أنها سعت في مرحلة لاحقة إلى تخطّي الهوس بلون البشرة للتوجّه إلى القارئ بقيم عالمية.
وكان يحلو لها أن تقول “مناي الكتابة عن السود من دون القول إنهم سود، تماما مثلما يكتب البيض عن البيض”.
