ورد ترامب على سؤال للصحفيين في البيت الأبيض عما إذا كانت خضعت ميلانيا لاختبار الكشف عن الفيروس قائلا: “نعم إنها على ما يرام. والنتيجة سلبية”.
وكان ترامب ونائبه مايك بنس قد خضعا لاختبار الكشف عن الفيروس وكانت النتيجة سلبية أيضا.
ويأتي ذلك بعد إعلان رابطة مراسلي البيت الأبيض، الاثنين، أن من المشتبه إصابة أحد أعضائها بفيروس كورونا مما يثير تساؤلات بشأن الإفادات الصحفية اليومية التي تجمع عشرات الصحفيين ومسؤولي إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترامب في غرفة واحدة.
ولم تكشف الرابطة عن اسم المراسل، لكنها قالت إنها على اتصال بطبيب البيت الأبيض والمؤسسة الصحفية التي ينتمي إليها المراسل.
وذكرت الرابطة، في البيان: “تم إبلاغنا بأن أحد زملائنا يشتبه في إصابته بفيروس كورونا، وهذا الشخص زار البيت الأبيض في 9 و11 و16 و18 مارس”.
وأضاف البيان “ندعو كل الصحفيين الذين كانوا في البيت الأبيض في تلك الفترة إلى مراجعة التعليمات الخاصة بحماية الصحة والتشاور مع أطبائهم واتخاذ الإجراءات المناسبة”.
