Youth arrested after weapon complaint at rural HRM school

Mounties have arrested a youth in connection to an incident involving a airsoft pistol in Middle Musquodoboit.

On Monday, officers responded to a weapons complaint at Musquodoboit Rural High School where a youth came into the school that morning with an airsoft pistol, shot another youth in the hand, who suffered from minor injuries. The suspect then brandished the weapon at another youth inside the school.

Both victims are known to the youth.

Police said after the incident was reported to school staff, they confronted the suspect and they fled from the school property.

Later that evening, Mounties safely arrested the suspect at a home in Elmsvale.

Police said the youth was later released on conditions and will appear in Shubenacadie Youth Justice Court in March to face charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and uttering threats.
