Young woman killed in ATV crash

A young woman died in an ATV crash over the weekend.

RCMP say it happened on a trail near Brookfield.

On Sunday evening, Mounties received a report that two people hadn’t returned from an ATV ride.

One of the two, a 21-year-old Salmon River man, walked to a residence and was able to call emergency services.

He was suffering from exposure to the elements but was otherwise uninjured.

The man was able to lead search teams back to the trail where he and another rider were involved in an ATV crash.

When searchers arrived, they located the passenger of the side-by-side, a 20-year-old Salmon River woman. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

RCMP say they are still investigating.
