Halifax Regional Police (HRP) now say the death of a 26-year-old man found unresponsive on the Halifax boardwalk was murder.
Police were called to the scene at the foot of Salter Street Sunday around 9:30 p.m. after a report of a disturbance in the area. The victim, now identified as Davelle Rodney Vance Desmond, was rushed to the hospital and later died.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiners’ office conducted an autopsy and now ruled Desmond’s death a homicide. Police have not said how Desmond died, saying in an earlier release that he was the victim of an aggravated assault.
HRP says the Special Investigations Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case and asks anyone with information about the incident or video from the area who has not already spoken with Police to call 902-490-5020.
