Wednesday’s hot weather breaks 125-year-old record in Halifax area

Environment Canada is reporting Wednesday’s heat in the Halifax area broke a 125-year-old record.

The national forecaster says the temperature reached 29.5 C in the Shearwater area, breaking the previous Sept. 18 record of 28.9 degrees set in 1899.

Environment Canada says records in this area have been kept since 1871.

Meantime, the temperature at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport reached 29 degrees, breaking the previous record set in 2015.
