With an unusual bout of warmer weather on Tuesday, daily temperature records were smashed across Nova Scotia.

According to Environment Canada, Halifax Stanfield International Airport saw the mercury climb to 17.3 C on Tuesday, breaking a record that stretches back to 1977.

The records also fell elsewhere around the province, with new temperature settings being made everywhere from Sydney to Kentville.

Greenwood saw exceedingly warm temperatures with the high hitting 19.8 C, breaking the 32-year-old record of 15.5 C.

Meanwhile, Kejimkujik National Park was the hottest region in the province, recording a high of 19.9 C, which smashes its 1998 record of 14 C.

More local stories:

CityNews Halifax meterologist Allistar Aalders is calling the rest of the week’s forecast a “roller-coaster” as temperatures cool off on Wednesday with showers or drizzle developing on Thursday.

That more inclement weather should see temperatures just edge into double digits.

Friday will see clouds with a 60 percent chance of rain or flurries as the Halifax area reaches temperatures of around 1 C, with the weekend settling into single digits.
