A 20-foot by 30-foot blue and yellow Ukrainian flag has been unfurled atop the Macdonald Bridge’s Dartmouth tower. Halifax Harbour Bridges says, for years, the highly visible spot near on the 100-metre tower was exclusively reserved for the Canadian flag. But in the past two years, other flags have been on display there, including the Nova Scotia flag and flags recognizing Emancipation Day and the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. HHB CEO Steve Snider said the location is reserved for “only the most important occasions and to show our support for causes that touch the lives of every Canadian.” In addition, traditional-sized Ukrainian flags have been hoisted on flagpoles near the two Halifax harbour toll plazas since early March.
